Notes

This nouvè names six shepherds by name and calls them to leave their sheep and plows to come adore the Child, then teaches them step by step how to behave in the stable: kiss the Child's feet, stand aside in a corner to make room for the three kings soon to arrive. Nicolas Saboly uses the rondeau form and the concatenation device here, each verse's first line repeating the previous verse's last line. Published in 1669 in Lei noé de San Pierre; not to be confused with the similarly named nouvè Guihaume, Tòni, Pèire by frère Sérapion.
