Notes
This nouvè calls on bell-ringers to celebrate with their carillon the birth of God made child, using onomatopoeia imitating the ringing of bells ('Ding, dong, ding, dang'). Each verse develops an image of the Nativity (the pearl born in its shell, the light that dispels all darkness) before returning to a refrain banishing Satan and proclaiming peace on earth. The last verse, more down to earth, encourages the ringers to hope for a good New Year's tip for their trouble. Published after Nicolas Saboly's death.
