Explanation
An exclamatory oath of surprise or anger, its most common forms being facho de coun and fatche de putain. The word facho, borrowed from Italian faccia, face, exists only in exclamations, as in que facho, what a face he's making. Facho de coun literally means face of vulva, a coarse, forceful curse never actually hurled at someone despite its literal meaning, roughly equivalent to bloody hell. A softer form, facho d'ènti, imitates the Italian-Corsican oath accidenti and works as a euphemism. Though marked as vulgar, these oaths have become an emblem of Marseille speech.
