Explanation
To feel nauseous. The word bòmi comes etymologically from vomi, but the expected initial v shifted to a b, more resonant and expressive, as in the interjection bouai! expressing disgust. Where standard French readily avoids the word vomit as too blunt, Provençal says it plainly, along with the stronger term raca. A recent half Provençal, half French form, avoir le vòmi, circulates among young Marseillais.
