Explanation
A very talkative person, man or woman. A basareto originally meant, in Provençal, a woman doing the market shopping, borrowed from the Arabic basar (market), hence someone who talks a lot while selling or buying. Market vendors in Provence have a solid reputation for chatter, they're even called repetiero (repeaters), and the word gave rise to the verb basaruta, to gossip.
