In Provençal, Mary is familiarly called la bouano maire (or bouano mèro, a form closer to French), her husband lou bouon Jóusè, their son l'Enfant-Diéu, the trio found at the nativity scene. Variants abound (bonne mère des anges, bonne mère de Dieu, Sainte Vierge) and in Provence, invoking God this way is not considered a serious oath.
