To pout. La bèbo originally means, pejoratively, a large, drooping lip, a word barely used outside this phrase. It survives mainly through its expressiveness, carried by the repeated b sound, which in Provençal evokes, in the right context, something spat out, as in bouai, yuck. Another phrase, si vougne la bèbo, to eat greedily and sloppily, also uses the word but never crossed into regional French.
